Wait – here she is. Listen as she talks with someone just like you.
Someone just like you: “Wise Elder, I seek to give away all the weight I’ve been carrying around so that I can feel better about myself – so I can feel happy and confident.”
Wise Elder: “Granddaughter. You are worthy and deserving of all you seek. Yet, first, you must know your own already existing goodness and discover the treasure of confidence and happiness that resides within you. Only then will you let go of the weight and keep it off forever.”
You have a Wise Elder inside – just listen…
Inside each of us is a Wise Elder. It’s that part of us who is aware that the good feelings we seek aren’t in the future; they are within us now! The trick is to listen to advice from that internal voice because that voice can help you seek a better future with confidence, happiness, joy, and love.
Deeply buried in all our hearts are the qualities and wisdom we seek, and they are as close as our heartbeat. Yet, some other part of our mind contests that wisdom, causing an inner conflict and sabotaging the very things we say we want.
It would help if your mind was free to listen to your inner guidance.

Here are five tips on how to make that jump-start.
Visualize – Imagine what you will look like and feel like when you’ve shed all those pounds and reach your healthy lifestyle goals. What will you be telling yourself? What will you hear from others?
Notice that when you begin feeling states of greater confidence and happiness, you feel them in the present moment.
Discover, Decide & Divert – Discover all of the stressful situations that cause you to indulge in sweets and other unhealthy choices.
Decide on a menu of healthy options you can turn to instead.
Divert your attention from the unhealthy choice to one of your healthy menu items. Some suggestions for your healthy menu: nourishing snacks, a warm bath, a refreshing glass of water, an invigorating walk, and perhaps a few other options that come to you now that you are thinking about it.
What additional ideas do you have?
Embrace your plan – Whatever plan you’ve decided in partnership with your wellness team is perfectly fine for the next 30 to 90 days. Believe in it. You can make changes later once you discover what works best.
STOP saying Weight “Loss” – Loss is a word that invokes sadness and causes us to want to get back what we’ve lost. “Releasing,” “letting go of,” and “giving it away” are all more effective expressions to describe what we are committing to – shedding those pounds that we no longer need.
